Margaret Lucille Michaelson, 85, of Janesville, WI, and formerly of DeKalb, IL, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in Rock County Rock Haven in Janesville, WI. Born on Aug. 9, 1922, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (McGuire) Mullen. Margaret was married to the late Francis W. Michaelson on Aug. 13, 1949, in St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb; he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1994. Margaret taught school in Dixon, IL, and also in Sycamore. She was a lifelong resident of DeKalb, until her move to Janesville to live with her daughter. After high school Margaret graduated from Northern Illinois Teachers College in 1944. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, and the Altar and Rosary Society. Margaret enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and was diehard sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, and the N.I.U. Huskies.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Schmidt of East Lansing, MI, and Julie Michaelson of Janesville, WI; sisters-in-law, Barbara Hagen and Olive Michaelson; a nephew, and several nieces. She was pre-ceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; and sister, Anne Marie Wildey.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, in ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH in DeKalb, IL, with Father Kenneth Anderson and Father Sean Michaelson co-officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thurs-day, Nov. 8, from 6 until 8 p.m., with a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m., in the RONAN-MOORE-FINCH FUNERAL HOME,310 Oak St., DeKalb. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
