OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Oct 29 1926 "Mrs. P. Michaels Dies Last Night: Prominent Iron River Resident Dies After Long Illness"
Mrs. Peter Michaels, one of Iron River's foremost pioneer residents, died at her home on Maple street at 6 o'clock last night after an illness of four months duration. Death was caused by a complication of diseases which kept her seriously ill for the past several weeks.
Mrs. Michaels, with her husband, came to Iron River 41 years ago and through her industry and sympathetic kindness was known as a wife and mother of deep devotion and great sacrifice. Her happiness was found in service to her family.
Mrs. Michaels, whose maiden name was Ellen Condon, was wed to Peter Michaels at Champion, Michigan, 50 years ago on September 21, 1926 . Nine years later they came to Iron River and during the development of iron ore mining to the Iron River district. Mr. Michaels secured a valuable tract of homestead land in Bates township. His death occurred two years ago in June.
Mrs. Michaels, with her daughter Miss Esther, spent last winter in Florida for her health, returning to her home here in the spring.
Always of a happy disposition and possessed of a noble character and kindly heart, she had many genuine friends.
She was born at Owen Sound, Canada, on July 21, 72 years ago.
The surviving children are Joe Michaels of Iron Mountain, Mrs. A.J. Rehr, Mrs. Mae Friend Jolly, and Miss Esther Michaels of Iron River.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at St. Agnes church, and the Rev. Fr. James Lenhart, a life long friend, will be the celebrant. Interment will be at the Iron River cemetery beside the body of her husband.

Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 9 o'clock for Mrs. Peter Michaels, 72, who died at her home on Maple street Thursday evening at 6 o'clock. Dean Father James Lenhart was the celebrant of the mass at St. Agnes Church and interment was in the Iron River cemetery. Large groups of friends were in attendance.
