Elizabeth Meyner Connelly, 89, of Somerset section of Franklin Township, died June 17, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center. Born in Phillipsburg, Mrs. Connelly resided in Somerset since 1956 and most recently a resident of Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Care facility in Hillsborough. She was employed as a secretary for the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Newark from 1946 until 1951. A Navy veteran of WWII, she served as a Pharmacist's Mate at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. A member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, So. Bound Brook and their Rosary Altar Society and the So. Bound Brook Senior Citizens. Mrs. Connelly attended evening classes at Seton Hall University from 1949 until 1951. At Foothill Acres, she was the President of the Patient Advocacy Program and in the early 60's she was a Republican Legislative Chairperson in New Brunswick.
She was the wife of the late John F. Connelly and mother of the late Bryant Connelly. Her siblings also predeceased her, Margaret Lawler and William Meyner. Surviving are her sons, Michael of Somerset and David of Barnegat Light and her daughters, Marie and Judy of Hillsborough; Three grandchildren, Chris, Sean and David; A brother, William Meyner and the late Margaret Lawler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at Our Lady of Mercy Church, So. Bound Brook with an interment to follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
