Long time resident Rogene A Boul, age 79, died September 30,2005 at the Grace Manor Care Center i Burlington.

Rogene was born October 15,1925 in Beaver City, Nebraska to Ernest and Inez Merwin. In her early life they moved to Anthony, Kansas until she was 5, when they moved to Burlington. Her mother Inez, then married Bert Meyers, who raised her as his own.

She attended schools in Burlington, where she graduated in 1943. She then married Martin Buol on February 13,1944.
To this union was born a son, Terry Lee and a daughter Shelly Ann.

Rogene's step-dad, Bert Meyers, owned and operated the Burlington Bakery for many years, where she drove the bread
truck from Goodland to Limon. Later on then she worked at the ASCS Office.

She loved horses, and was active in the Riding Club in Burlington during WWII. Her hobbies were fishing, bowling, golf, traveling, cars, mahjong, needlepoint, painting pictures and art in general. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary which included the Parliamentary Team and Civil Air Patrol. Rogene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burlington where she sang in the choir as well as singing duets at many area funerals. She was also a Den Leader for the Cub Scouts and assisted with the Girl Scouts.

She and Martin farmed in this area for many years until they retired in Cape Coral, Florida. Before completely retiring to Florida on a full time basis, they spent their winters there for many years until they built their home in 1988 and moved there permanently. In June 2005, they returned to Burlington to be closer to family.

Preceding her in death were her parents and grandson Juan Buol.

Rogene is survived by her husband, Martin Buol of Burlington, their son Terry and his wife Judi of Norfolk, Nebraska; daughter Shelly and her husband Dale of Burlington; six grandchildren, Mike Buol and his wife Nicole of Cortland, Nebraska, Tony Buol and his wife Kristie of Norfolk, Jeff Buol and Tachia Buol of Norfolk, Jeremy Hansen and his wife Whitney of Burlington and Josh Hansen of Denver; two great grandchildren Avery Nicole of Cortland and Zavien Dizon of Norfolk; sisters-in-law Dorene Buol of Burlington and E.J. Buol of Sun City, Arizona,as well as many nieces and nephews.


A memorial service was held on Monday, October 3,2005, at the Burlington United Methodist Church with Reverend Jeffrey
Babb and Reverend Terry Boul officiating. Inumment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials made be made in Roaene's name to the Burlington VFW Post # 6491 and may be left at the Bank of Burlington 410 14th Street, Burlington, Colorado 80807
