Obituary of Loramarie Meyer Henry
(January 12, 1918 - August 28, 2012)
Gulfport, MS ~ A Gulfport resident since 1955, Lorie was a native of Mayville, WI. She graduated from both Dodge County Normal School and the University of Wisconsin where she met her future husband Berch. In Gulfport, she was a teacher for 15 years working in both Central and Anniston Elementary Schools.
She was a member of and active in various civic and church activities including the Braille Workshop and Evening Guild of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Gulf Coast Symphony Guild, and the Gulfport Yacht Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Berch W. Henry and her son David B. Henry as well as her parents Professor and Mrs. Herman Meyer.
She is survived by children Patti Sneed and Shorty, Jim Henry, Mary Beth Barnett and James, Bill Henry and Alison.
She also leaves her grandchildren to cherish her memories : Jennifer Holmes (New Orleans), Jill Chopra and Bimal (Atlanta), Johnny Sneed (Los Angeles), Lori Sneed (Atlanta), Jim Henry and Beth (Southaven), Andrew Steiner (Joshua Tree, CA), Camille Heckmann and John (Pensacola), Wes and Sarai Barnett (New Orleans), Adam Barnett (Durham, NC), Josh Barnett (Oxford), Mary Henry (Boulder, CO), Oliver Henry (Gulfport), as well as her great grandchildren Bella and Hank Chopra (Atlanta), and Grayson and Reese Henry (Southaven) and many more loved ones in her extended family.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 1301 31st Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501 or to a favorite charity .
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Gulfport. The funeral service follows at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Private graveside service will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
