Hilda, 98, of Chelsea, MI, passed away Tuesday, at Towsley Village in Chelsea. She was the daughter of Max and Minnie (Buehler) Dopslaff. On July 12, 1933 she married Ernest Metzner in Whitmore Lake and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1989. Hilda was a member of the Covenant Church in Chelsea, had served the Bethlehem Church in Ann Arbor for 30-plus years as Secretary and President of the Ladies Aid, and held the position of Deaconess at the Venice U.C.C. for three years. She was a founding member of the German Park Recreation Club and was on the Advisory Council for one year for the Senior Citizens in Chelsea. She enjoyed crochet, crafts, music, and playing cards. Surviving are two daughters: Margaret (Larry) Wiedmayer of Grass Lake and Doris (J. Grady) Kent of Crosby, TX; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grand children; one sister, H. Gertrude Hensel of Waterford; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Carrie Dunlap.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Eugenia Wetzel, Eleanor Shalk, and her twin, Hertha. Funeral Services were held Monday, December 27, 2010 from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Dickerson officiating.
