Mrs. Metsker died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 13, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Dabney S. Grant and Rose Elizabeth Phillips. She attended Pinckney School and graduated from Oread Training School, both in Lawrence. She also attended Kansas University.
Mrs. Metsker worked for Lawrence Telephone Company, Green Brothers Hardware and retired from Lawrence Memorial Hospital as secretary to the purchasing agent.
She served as chairwoman on the Baldwin City Maple Leaf Committee, was a 4-H Club leader and served on the Bert Nash Mental Health Board. She was a member of Baldwin City Business and Professional Women, Lawrence Knife and Fork Club, Town and Country Republican Women and served as Marion Township Republican chairwoman for many years.
Mrs. Metsker married John P. Metsker on Nov. 18, 1945, in Lawrence. He died Feb. 4, 2007.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Kalb, Wellsville, and Merry Wilde, Overbrook; three sons, Andy, Leavenworth, and Phillip and David, both of Lawrence; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
