Nancy Jane Wolf Metsker born on April 6, 1832, was the youngest daughter of David Wolf of Churubusco, Smith Township, Whitley County, Indiana, one of the first settlers in that township.

Nancy married Christian Frederick Metsker on February 12, 1852, in Churubusco, where their children were born: John Edward, Louis Alexander, Grant, Clara Ellen-Arct, Mary Viola-Cooley, William McKendrie, Anna-Mills, Cassius, and Dolly. Sarah Ann and Emma Alice died as infants and were interred in the Eel River Cemetery, four miles from Churubusco, Indiana.

Christian and Nancy Metsker farmed first in Indiana, and in 1876 sold the farm and moved the family to Butler County, Kansas, where they purchased a large farm and fitted up one of the finest homes in Southwestern Kansas. Christian and Nancy were members of the United Brethren Church and maintained family worship each day and attended Sabbath Day services through any kind of weather to the end of their family life.

Nancy Jane Wolf Metsker died on January 12, 1916 and is buried in the Douglass Kansas Cemetery.
