Funeral services for Shirley B. Metcalf, 72, retired farmer, were held at 1:30 Monday afternoon, at the Davis-Ralston Funeral Home in Petersburg. The Rev. Loyde Noble officiated, and burial was in the Lincoln Cemetery.
Mr. Metcalf died suddently last Saturday at the Bedford County Hospital, apparently of a heart attack.
He was a native of Lincoln County, a son of the late Willard and Mary Luna Metcalf.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Echenroth of Athens, Michigan, and Mrs. Jean McCarty of Chicago, Illinois; four sons, Thomas Metcalf of the Richmond community, Glendon Ray Metcalf of Lynchburg, James Robert Metcalf of Athens, Michigan, and David Ronald Metcalf of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Edde of Lewisburg, Mrs. Ollie Chisam of Hazel Green, Alabama, and Mrs. Goldie Roher of Greenville, Tennessee; four brothers, Jimmy Metcalf of Lynchburg, Walter Metcalf of Shelbyville, Frank Metcalf of Texas, and Willard Metcalf of Fayetteville; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
