Infant daughter and the first child born to Corporal Dennis Burris Messenger and Mary Elizabeth Barker.

After Adie's death, her parents had eight more children: Hattie, Benjamin B, Daisy Ann, Martha, Dennis Lucien, Thomas Franklin, Asbury Rutherford and John Johnson. Hattie and Benjamin both died young and the three are buried next to each other.

In additional to being buried with her two siblings, she is near four cousins and her paternal grandfather, Frederick Dent Messenger.

Her parents eventually moved to Washington Territory in 1881 and are buried there.
