Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Rich Pippert officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the West Chester Cemetery in West Chester. Memorials have been established to an Activities Fund at Halcyon House.
Osie was born on November 1, 1918 in Brighton , Iowa the daughter of Charles E. and Phianna A. (Hopkins) Messenger. She attended school in Washington County. Osie was united in marriage to Dorance Arduser on October 23, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. Osie worked for McCleery Cummings and was a cook at Snack Shack. She enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family. She enjoyed riding along the country side and spending time along the river.
Osie is survived by her daughter, Marlin Meiners of Wellman, Iowa; son, Richard and wife Jan Arduser Ladora, Iowa; son, daughter, Reita Humphreys of West Chester, Iowa; Wendell and wife Karen Arduser of Washington, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; thirty two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two great great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Viola Messenger of Yuma, Arizona; brother-in-law, Paul Martin of Washington, Iowa; her roommate, Millie Tucker and many loving caregivers at Halcyon House.
Osie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dorance in 1992; one infant son, Mervin Dean; one infant great granddaughter; and ten brothers and sisters. Osie was the last surviving sibling in her immediate family.
