OBITUARY

MRS. JAMES M. HARRISON

Mrs. James M. Harrison, for many years a resident of Chariton, died at her home in Chariton on Wednesday evening, December 16, 1931, at 9:30 o'clock, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 6 days. She had been indisposed for two days but her condition was not considered serious, and her death came suddenly, due to heart trouble.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. E. L. Stone, of the M. E. church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Monday afternoon at two o'clock, after which the body was laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery.

Mary Rebecca Merryman, daughter of Harry and Frances Merryman, was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on February 10, 1852. She was united in marriage to James M. Harrison at Walesboro, Indiana, on October 20, 1870. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Birdie H. Brown, of Parker, Arizona, and Mrs. Irene H. Peppers, of Los Angeles, California, who with their father, are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother.

Mrs. Harrison had been a member of the Episcopal church for many years. Her grandfather, Rev. Robert Reed, of Ohio, was a bishop in the Methodist Episcopal church.

During her long residence in Chariton Mrs. Harrison had one a host of friends attracted to her by her genial disposition, pleasant manners and many fine qualities of mind and heart. Her highest happiness came in devotion to her family and helpfulness to those about her.
