Angelina "Angel" M. Merriweather Durante, age 39, of 1762 Inlet Cove Terrace, Snellville, GA. 30078, formerly of the Northfork, WV; area, went to be with the Lord Monday night January 14, 2008 at the Emory East Side Medical Center, Snellville, GA; after a long illness.

Born May 30, 1968 in Welch, WV; she was the daughter of Donald Merriweather and Shirley Johnson Merriweather of Northfork, WV. Angel was a 1987 graduate of Mt. View High School, and also attended Strayer University. She was a former employee of the Ameribank, Northfork, WV; and the Ft. Hood National Bank, Ft. Hood, TX. She was also a former employee of Wal Mart, and a certified CNA.

She was a life long member of the Mt. Ebenezer Baptist Church, Algoma, WV; where she was active in church affairs. She was a resident of the Northfork/Algoma area most of her life, and had resided in Snellville, GA. for the past 2 years. She was a loving daughter, a loving wife, a loving mother, and a loving grandmother, and was loved by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Anna Bell Johnson, and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Merriweather. In addition to her parents, she leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving and devoted husband of 16 years, John E. Durante of the home; four daughters, Staci Ponder of Charleston, WV; Shikela Washington of the home, Kenyatta Durante of the home, Celina Durante of the home; one granddaughter; two brothers, Donald Merriweather Jr. and wife Carlisa of Thorpe, WV; Harold Johnson II and wife Lavonya of Snellville, GA.; two sisters, Michelle Banks and husband William of Stafford, VA; Dorothy Merriweather and fiancé Kevin Peart of Washington, D.C.; her paternal grandfather, John Merriweather of Keystone, WV; a special aunt, Vanessa Johnson of Northfork, WV; her best friend, Alicia Thrillkill and husband of Savannah, GA.; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Home Going service to celebrate her life was held Monday, January 21, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the Mt. Ebenezer Baptist Church, Algoma, WV; with the Rev. Timothy Hairston, the Rev. Courtney Wallace, Bishop Warren Branch, and the Rev. Harold Calloway officiating. Burial followed at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Route 20, Bluewell, WV. The family received friends Sunday night, January 20, 2008 at the Mt. Ebenezer Baptist Church, Algoma, WV; from 6 to 9 p.m. and also Monday, January 21, 2008 at the church one hour prior to service. Pallbearers and flower bearers will be friends of the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Widener Funeral Home; Northfork, WV.
