Anna Rebecca (Merritt) Hare, of rural Elk City, Kansas, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Independence, Ks., one day after her 84th birthday.
She was born in rural Elk City to James M. and Irene (Hadley) Merritt.
She attended Elk City schools and graduated from Elk City High School in 1937.
She married Raymond Lee Hare at Cherryvale, Kansas on May 26, 1937. They moved to rural Elk City where they lived most of their married life.
Raymond passed away Oct. 20, 1998.
Anna worked in the dietary department of Mercy Hospital in Independence for 22 years before retiring on Jan. 1, 1982.

ANNA R HARE
Anna R. Hare, 84, of rural Elk City, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at Mercy Hospital, Independence, Kansas.
Anna was born on November 25, 1919 in rural Elk City, Kansas to James M. and Irene (Hadley) Merritt. She attended Elk City schools and graduated from Elk City High School in 1937. On May 26, 1937, Anna married Raymond Lee Hare at Cherryvale, Kansas and they moved to rural Elk City where they lived most of their married life. Mr. Hare preceded her in death on October 20, 1998. Anna worked in the dietary department of Mercy Hospital in Independence for 22 years before retiring on January 01, 1982.
She was a member of the Elk City United Methodist Church and Royal Neighbors of America. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and Card Creek Club.
Anna is survived by two sons, Kenzel Hare and Jim Hare both of Independence, Kansas; five daughters, Judy Wilson of Independence, Kansas, Florence McLaughlin of Wellsville, Kansas, Sharon Lewis of Prosper, Texas, Janice Reynolds of Wichita, Kansas and Helen McFatridge of Robinson, Texas; one sister, Catherine Rush of Phoenix, Arizona; twenty grandchildren; and thirty two great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Betty Cook, one brother, one grandson and one great grandson.
Visitation hours for Anna will be Sunday, November 30, 2003 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Anna R. Hare will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 01, 2003 at the Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Keith Springer of the Highland Park Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Elk City.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Elk City United Methodist Church. Memorials may be left with the Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home.
Casket bearers for Tuesday's service will be her grandchildren: Gary Hare, Randy Hare, Terry Wilson, Marty Wilson, Kenny McLaughlin and Steve McLaughlin. Honorary Casket Bearers were her grand children: Ruby Amesigger, Paula Schuler, Mike Hare, Allan Cook, Tim Cook, Alyson Hoyle, Stephanie Hull, Julie McKevlin, Cindy Hafenstine, Kimberly Lewis, Misty Sullivan, Angela Wilkins, Lacy McFatridge & Bryanna McFatridge.
