ROCKTON - Hazel M. Eddy, 89, formerly of 416 Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, died Friday at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
A life-long area resident, she was born Nov. 7, 1889, in Rockton, the daughter of James Allen and Minnie Talcott Comstock Merrill. She married Myron Elmer Eddy on June 26, 1916, in Rockton. He died on April 17, 1975. She taught kindergarten before her marriage, and was a member of the Old Strone Church, Rockton, since 1907. She holds the longest membership. She was a member of the Rockton Township Historical Society, the Winnebago County Senior Citizens and the Friendship Guild of the church.
Survivors include one son, Phillip of Garrett Park, Md.; one daughter, Sybil (Mrs. Frank) Rairdon of Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Old Stone Church, Rockton, with Dr. James Westpfahl officiating. Cremation will follow and interment will take place later in Rockton Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Rosman, Uehling. Kinzer Blackhawk Chapel, South Beloit. Memorials may be given to the church.
