Gay loved her church family in Floydada and was a member of the New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012. Interment will follow at the Silverton Cemetery.



Obituary

Julia Gay Merrell McPherson was beared away on snow white wings this October 1, 2012. She was born in Flomot on September 6, 1934 in the home of her parents Willard and Vivian Johnson Merrell. Her family moved to the Hay Lake Community where she attended High School in Silverton. Gay married the love of her life, Lawrence Gale McPherson while he served in the U.S Navy. Soon after marriage they moved to Lockney to farm and raise a family. Throughout her 78 years, Gay truly loved living and was fun loving! She enjoyed sports, traveling, reading and loved her family. Gay was a daughter of the American Revolution and served on the Lockney Library Board.

Survived by her husband Gale, a son Steven Dale and wife Becky McPherson a daughter DarLee and husband David Foster, four grandchildren; Mathew Allen and wife Megan McPherson, James William and wife Stephanie McPherson, Addie Lee Foster, and William David Foster. Two great grandchildren Payce and Elle McPherson as well as a sister Eula May DeWitz of Kenniwick, WA.

Gay was preceded in death by a son Willard Dee McPherson, a grandson Luke Foster, and her brother Billy Dale Merrell.

The family asks for donations to be made to the Lockney Volunteer Fire Department, The Lockney Library, Silverton Cemetery, or the charity you support.
