Ophelia Owen Cooper passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday at Ridglea Baptist Church, 6307 Calmont Ave. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.
Ophelia Virginia Merrell Owen Cooper was born Nov. 20, 1917, to Jesse and Katheryn Merrell in the Glen Rose area. She will always be remembered for her love of dancing, cheerful disposition and willingness to participate. She loved to be on the go and always looked her best. Ophelia owned several businesses throughout her life: a toy store, a florist and a van accessories company. Ophelia was also a past matron of South Fort Worth Chapter #835 of the Eastern Star as well as a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, and participated in the drill team for many years.
Ophelia was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond O. Owen and Warren Cooper, and one son, Ricky Ray Owen.
Survivors: Son, Gary Owen; daughter-in-law, Jerry Beth; sister, Ernesteen Porter; sister-in-law, Jean Merrell; nieces, Joy Jones and husband, Carroll, Carol Coulson and husband, Don, Cynthia Wright and husband, Jerry, Candy Curry and husband, Tom, and Dianne Merrell; and nephews, Alvin Wirt and wife, Hellen, David Mimms and wife, Rose, and Earl Merrell and wife, Rebecca.
