She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Dennis M. Brewick, one son Russ Baize of Stamford, Texas, her mother, Helen Tanner of Aledo, Texas, two sisters Donna Osment of Aledo and Mrs Charles (Jeanne M.) Alexander of Tallahassee, Florida. Three grandchildren, Chad Baize of Stamford, Casey Baize of Big Lake,Texas and Samantha Baize of Wall, Texas who knew her as "Honey". One niece Lisa Propst, one nephew Brad Alexander of Bentonville, Arkansas, and a great niece and three great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph W. Merchant of Haskell, and one son Robert Bruce Baize.
Born in Haskell Texas, she graduated from Haskell High School, and later attended Hardin - Simmons University. She had an extraordinary love of people, loved variety and creative challenges. She had a diverse career in a number of different industries, serving as Supervisor of Housekeeping at Stamford Hospital, Copywriter at KTXS, and Secretary to the head of English department at Hardin- Simmons University.
She later moved to Dallas, and while at Reserve Life Insurance Company as Personnel Director, she met her husband, Dennis. For some 30 years, she expanded her working career to include fashion and home decorating, in the Apparel Mart, Trade Center, and World Trade Center while also working in real estate sales. Bobbie worked faithfully at raising money and helping any way she could to make a difference and help people. Since the early '70's , she has worked tirelessly as a volunteer, co-ordinating and assuming leadership roles for various causes. She staffed a newly created office for fund-raising to benefit Hardin-Simmons University.
In '95, she served as Event Co-ordinator for World AIDS Day quilt display. In 2000, she personally secured thousands of dollars for an AIDS auction. Since 1992, she has worked diligently with White Rock Friends AIDS Ministry. White Rock Friends dedicated a Cookbook to Bobbie for her guidance, ideas, hard work and enthusiasm. Bobbie's faith, family and friends sustained her through her long illness. She attended Scofield Memorial Church.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 4, 2003 in Haskell, Texas at the First Baptist Church, with internment at Willow Cemetery in Haskell. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at Holden-McCauley Funeral Home in Haskell. Memorial service pending at Scofield Memorial Church in Dallas.
Pallbearers are Van Baize, Rocky Moore, Dale Dixon, Billy Davis, Mabry Brock, and Bo (Borden) Worsham.
Honorary pallbearers are Euclid Appling, Billy Joe McKeever, Buddy Mueller, Dr. Warren Dozier, Jimmy White, Squee Kimbrough, Kipp Milliron, Jimmy Joy and Jerry Gholson.
