Delia Fondren "Dee" Melvin, 90, died Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Visitation is 5 - 7 today and at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Canton with burial in the Canton Cemetery.
A native of Jackson, Mrs. Melvin was a longtime resident of Canton and had been a resident of Sunnybrook Estates for the past 6 years. She was the last surviving child of the David Fulton Fondren family and was preceded in death by her husband J. E. "Fritz" Melvin, Sr.
Survivors include: sons, Dr. Ed Melvin and wife, Marty of Halifax, Va., Shelby Melvin and wife, Cheryl of Madison; daughter, Nancy Rings and husband, Skooter of Hernando; grandchildren, Pat Melvin, Chris Melvin, Shelby Bjorlie, John Rings, David Rings, Claire Melvin, and Katie Melvin; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
