Denton Journal February 13, 1897, page 3:
"Mrs. Louisa Cooper, died at the residence of her son, Mr. Samuel C. Cooper, near Ridgely, at four o'clock last Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Cooper, who was 78 years of age, was in her usual health until ten o'clock on the evening before her death, when she suffered a stroke of paralysis. The deceased, before her marriage to Ezekiel Cooper, a well-known Delaware farmer, who died twenty-nine years ago, was a Miss Melvin, a sister of the venerable Riley Melvin, who resided near Burrsville. Nine children survive the deceased - James T., Samuel C., M.B., and Joseph S. Cooper, all of whom live in this county; Mrs. Mary J. Curry, Mrs. Deborah Hughes, Mrs. Sarah Kemp, Mrs. Georgia Penny, and Mrs. Susan Penny. The remains were interred at Wesley Chapel, near Burrsville, on Thursday."
