Josephine S. Angers
July 20, 2012
Sanford

Josephine S. Angers, 81, of Laurel Street in Sanford, passed from her earthly life to join God and the love of her life, her husband Paul, on July 20, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.

"Thank You," Dear Lord for releasing her from all of her fears and anxiety.
Josephine endured and persevered many illnesses over the past 10 plus years and still managed to care for her very ill husband, Paul. A True testament to a very strong and loving wife, Mom, Gram, Great Gram and Aunt. As a Mom, she made the ultimate sacrifice for her children, always making sure their needs were met and going without for herself.

In her younger years and up until retiring, Josephine was a "working Mom" and a very hard worker in various woolen mills; getting only 4 – 5 hours sleep daily to help her husband provide for their family.

Josephine (Josie) was born in Corinna on September 5, 1930 the daughter of Clyde and Gladys (Downing) Melvin and graduated from Sanford High School. Josephine enjoyed taking care of her home, knitting until she no longer could, and taking country rides with her husband Paul looking for deer and wild turkeys. She and Paul enjoyed watching the Red Sox games and being in the comfort of their home.

She will be sadly missed by her family and all who were very close to her, but pleasantly remembered for her blunt sense of humor.

She was predeceased in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen and a son, Lawrence; two brothers, Ralph and Wilmont and three sisters, Gertrude Landry, Madeline Jenkins and Beryl Vachon.

She is survived by her children, Marlene Angers of Sanford; Linda Normand and husband Paul of Alfred; Ronald Angers and wife Julia of Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Blanche Melvin; 11 special grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; many special nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24th at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., in Alfred, where a prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25th followed by committal prayers and burial at St. Ignatius Cemetery on Berwick Rd., in Sanford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Josephine's memory to the Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 US Route 1, # 250, Falmouth, ME 04105 and/or the American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074. and/or the American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074.

Our family extends our special thanks and gratitude for the special care and compassion received from Dr. Abraham of Sanford; Dr Wight of So. Portland; The Sanford Cancer Care Center and to all the caring hearts and hands at Goodall Hospital.

The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
