The funeral for Viola Ahrens was Tuesday at 2 p.m., at the Urbauer-Williams Funeral Home Chapel, Edgar. She died Sunday at the Bethesda Care Center, Edgar, at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 20 days. Viola Edna Melvin, the daughter of Julius Rankin and Minnie Caroline Meyer Melvin, was born Oct. 26, 1895, on a farm in Saline County, near Swanton, Neb. In October, 1915, she moved to Nuckolls County where she met and married Louis F. Ahrens March 5, 1925, at the home of her parents northwest of Angus. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Edwin Donald, born Nov. 9, 1925, and Wendell Eugene, born Dec. 30, 1928. She was a member of the E.U.B. Church in Angus, joining in October, 1915, and remained a member as long as the church was in existance. Oct. 13, 1968, she became a member of the Oak First Community Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis, Feb. 26, 1966; brothers, Lawrence and Ervin Melvin; and one sister, Stella Pittman. Survivors are her sons, Edwin Ahrens of Ogallala, Neb., and Eugene Ahrens of Oak; brother, Archie Melvin, Davenport; sister, Vella Bauman, Nelson; five grand- children; and many other relatives. Pastor Harold Fox was the officiant at the services. Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery.
