MRS. WALKER ANDERSON
The news of the passing away of Mrs. Walker Anderson, which occurred at her home in this city on Sunday afternoon, April 10, 1927, after an extended illness, has brought sadness to many hearts. She had suffered intensely at times and death came as a welcome release from pain. Everything possible was done to restore her health, but to no avail.
Funeral services were held at the Nazarene church on Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. I. W. Buchanan, after which interment took place in the Oxford cemetery.
Elizabeth Emmeline Melvin was born in Fulton county, Illinois, on August 27, 1861, and at the time of her demise her age was 65 years, 7 months and 14 days.
On July 19, 1876, she was united in marriage to Walker Anderson. To this union ten children were born, two of whom, Mrs. Louisa Shewster and Elsie Anderson, preceded her in death. Those surviving are John Anderson, of Des Moines; Lon Anderson, Mrs. Mary Miller, Mrs. Ida Coons and Charlie Anderson, of Chariton; Henry Anderson, of Des Moines; Mrs. Josephine Jones, of Laramie, Wyoming; Mrs. Nellie Gookin, of Denver, Colorado. Besides her husband and children she also leaves twenty-seven grandchildren.
Deceased had been a resident of this community for many years and was highly esteemed by all who knew her for her many noble qualities. She was a devoted and faithful wife and mother, a kind friend and a good neighbor. A large circle of friends will mourn her passing and will extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones.
