Dr. and Mrs. Kermit T. Melugin of Ryan, Oklahoma, and formerly of Grandfalls, wish to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Lela Sue, to Robert Meredith Beckett. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram M. Beckett of this city and formerly of Sanderson.
The wedding will be an event of October 3 at 8 p.m. in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kilcrease of Gainsville.
Miss Melugin graduated from Grandfalls High School and is a junior student at North Texas State University. Her prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Sanderson High School and a 1962 graduate of Texas A&M. He is presently employed by Graybar Electric in Houston where they will make their home. Miss Melugin plans to continue her education at the University of Houston.
Mrs. Austin was born November 15, 1944 in Houston, TX and passed away March 27, 2012.
Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by father and stepmother, Dr. Kermit T. and Virginia Melugin, mother, Sarah Elizabeth Melugin of McKinney, TX.
Survivors include beloved husband and caregiver of 35 years, James R. "Dick" Austin; daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Austin Badgett and husband Jason of Bryan, TX; step-daughter, Pamela Austin Lantz and husband Randall of Pine Key, FL; step-son, Stephen J. Austin of Nokomis, FL; grandsons, Brady and Preston Badgett; step-grandsons, Benjamin, Christopher, and Jonathon Lantz; great grandson, Mason Lantz; brothers, Joseph Earl Melugin of Lake Texhoma, TX and Ramsey K. Melugin and wife Marlene of Los Altos, CA, step sister, Jane Kilcrease and husband Bob of Era, TX; and special pets, Toupie and Tinker.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, sons-in-law, and stepson. Honorary Pallbearer will be James Allen.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Jeffery E. Gershenwald, MD, of M.D. Anderson, Houston, TX for his care throughout the years.
