Funeral services for Herman Mellies, 92, of Fort Dodge, who died on Monday, March 21, 1955, were held last Thursday, March 24, 1955, at the Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton, IA.
Mr Mellies farmed for many years in the Ireton vicinity and when he retired he moved to Ireton. Nine years ago he and Mrs. Mellies went to Fort Dodge to live with a daughter.
When he lived at Ireton he was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church.
Besides the widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter Sell and Mrs. Christina Anderson of Fort Dodge; two sons, Fred of Redlands, Calif.; and John of Cherokee and six grandchildren.
