Funeral services for Albert E. Melcher, who passed away at a Sioux City, Ia. hospital Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the age of 44, were conducted Friday of last week at the Congregational-Baptist Church. The Rev. Gordon S. Jensen, pastor, officiated.
Interment was in the family plot in the Orchard Cemetery.
Albert E. Melcher, son of Edward and Emma Melcher, was born April 2, 1910 at Pilger. When he was one year of age, his parents moved to a frm south of Page, where he grew to manhood.
He was married to Frances E. Schwager at Yankton, S.D., April 2, 1934. Three sons were born to them.
Their first home was in Page, where Mr. Melcher worked for several years, after which they moved to a farm near Orchard.
The family remained there about eight years, then moved to a farm about seven miles southwest of Creighton. Here Mr. Melcher was actively engaged in farming until he became ill and was confined to his bed.
Surviving are his mother, Emma E. Melcher; his wife Frances; three sons, Robert, Richard and Ronald, all at home; two brothers, Arthur of Clearwater and Harold of Page and three sisters, Esther Shirreffs of Tilden, Helen Thiessen of Clearwater and Dorothy Clements of Miami, Fla.
