Fort Scott (AP) - An eight-year-old Fort Scott girl -- Elizabeth Melcher -- was killed today when she was struck by a car.
She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Alvin Melcher, the accident occurred on US 69 in front of her father's office. The Highway Patrol says her and her 11 year-old brother, Jeffrey, were chasing a dog and the girl ran onto the highway.
