Mrs. Jake J. Mefford, 70; for over 50 years a resident of Hunnewell, passed away at her home in Monroe City. Sunday evening after an illness of several weeks of pneumonia and other complications.
With her husband they moved to Monroe City the lst of February and was taken sick soon after moving.
Eva Ball Daughter of Mr. & Mrs Dan Ball was born at Oventon, Kentucky, December 23, 1876.
She spent her childhood days in Kentucky and was united in marriage to Jacob (Jake) J. Mefford January 19, 1897 at Vevay,Indiana. They were the parents of four children.
Mr. & Mrs. Mefford came to Hunnewell soon after marriage and had lived here ever since. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home here in January.
Mrs. Mefford was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a kind and generous neighbor, a woman of quiet and lovely christian character.
She had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years and attended church services whenever she was able.
Surviving her are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Clarkson, Mrs. Harry Moore of Hunnewell, Mrs. Sylvia Carrico and Elmer Mefford of St. Louis, also five grandchildren and six great-grand children.
