|Birth: ||Aug. 13, 1889|
|Death: ||Jan. 17, 1971|
Mrs. Carrie Boyce was born August 13, 1889, at her farm home near Guide Rock, Nebraska and slipped peacefully to rest while sitting in her chair on January 17, 1971, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 4 days.
Carrie was the daughter of James and Mary Mefford, devout members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Carries three brothers, Albert, Jess and Alvie, and three sisters, Elsie, Cora and Clara preceeded her in death.
At nineteen years of age on March 4, 1908, Carrie was united in marriage to Lew Perry, who died as a result of burns from an explosion on November 22, 1930. After her husband's tragic death, Carrie operated a laundry in Superior for a number of years.
Then on July 7, 1942 she married Doctor Walter Boyce, a veterinarian, with whom she lived happily for thirteen years. Tragedy struck Carrie's home a second time in the form of a stroke, leaving Walter an invalid, whom Carrie cared for most tenderly & lovingly until his death on November 4, 1955.
After this time, Carrie began to re-examine the faith of her parents and of her childhood and was rebaptized into Seventh Day Adventist Church on January 15, 1955, remaining a faithful member and loyal supporter of that body until her death.
Carrie leaves to mourn her passing one brother-in-law, Chester Drake in Washington State; one step-son in France, 4 nephews, 6 nieces, a number of great nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
She will be sorely missed by her church family, but she fell asleep with the assurance that Christ will call her forth on the resurrection morning to be re-united with faithful loved ones and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 19, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home with Elder J.C. Zollbrecht officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska.
