|Death: ||Aug. 3, 2011|
Buena Vista "Boo" Speake Meem died at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 3, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Meem, Professor Emeritus of Nuclear Physics at the University of Virginia.
She is survived by her two sons, Jim Meem and John Meem; along with four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a special caregiver and true friend, Phyllis Smith, who loved her very much.
She served her church, St. Paul's Ivy, with faith and devotion, along with many associations, including but not limited to a stint as Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, all with her own special care and energy.
Boo was interred next to her husband in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery of Lexington Virginia following a private service.
Boo loved flowers, but preferred in this instance that any memorial donations be made to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 160, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
The family thanks the caring staffs at the University of Virginia Medical Center, The Colonnades Nursing Home of Charlottesville, and The Hospice of the Piedmont.
