James Meekin, 91, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at 2:01 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Meekin graduated from Huntington High School in 1937 and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the owner of Colorview T.V. in Huntington. He attended the Etna Avenue Wesleyan Church and was a life member of American Legion Post 7, both in Huntington.
He was born April 4, 1919, in Huntington to James and Lena Leibrook Meekin. He married Evelyn Mae Chapin on Sept. 27, 1941, in Huntington. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2007.
Survivors include six sons, James L. (Barbara) Meekin, Richard A. Meekin, John W. Meekin, David H. (Sandy) Meekin, Jeffrey L. Meekin and Randy D. Meekin, all of Huntington; a daughter, Linda Goings, of Huntington; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will follow at the mortuary at 11 a.m., with Rev. Tom Bradley officiating.
Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
