RIVERDALE - Barbara Swensen Meek, 85, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the LDS Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1918, in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Alvin C. and Arvilla Clayton Swensen.
She married Ariel W. Meek on June 1, 1939, in the Logan, Utah Temple.
She served as a temple officiator in the Logan Temple. She also catered weddings and was active in the Franklin County 4-H program. She lived a life filled with service to her loved ones and her fellow men. She showed an example of love, courage and faith to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Ariel, of Riverdale; one son and two daughters, Stephen A. (Madge) Meek, Riverdale, Tamera Hinck, Smithfield, Utah, Sheryl (Hal) Meek-Molitor, Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lynn (Olga) Swensen, Hagerman, Idaho, Max (Lucy) Swensen, Mt. Pleasant, Utah; two sisters, Mary Bateman and Reba Ross, both of Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, by a sister, Donna Obray, and by a son-in-law, Vaughn Hinck. She will be missed by her family and was a much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, confidant and friend.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2003, in the Riverdale Ward Chapel, with Bishop Sam Smith conducting. Friends may call tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, Preston, and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Riverdale Cemetery.
