Adam served in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in the 2nd Regiment on 11.4.1775 and re-enlisted on 11.1.1779. In 1779, he was under Capt. Richard Baker. After the fall of Charleston, he became a lieutenant in the militia under Col. Braton and was also in the light dragoons under Lt. Col. Wade Hampton. He was in the battles at Briar Creek, Rocky Mount, Hanging Rock, Fishing Creek, Fish Dam Ford, Blackstock's Plantation, Biggin Church adn Eutaw Springs.
