George Ellis Meek

George Ellis Meek, 72, Maryville, for many years owner of the Meek Advertising Co., died Sunday night at the St. Francis Hospital after a several months' illness.

He was the son of the late George H. and Fannie Bateman Meek, and was born Feb. 5, 1903 at Stanberry. He had lived all of his life in Maryville, with the exception of a short time when he resided with his parents in Denver, Colo.

On June 14, 1928 he was married to Pauline Eckert, who survives.

A graduate of Maryville High School in 1922, he attended Northwest State University. He had operated his sign company 46 years before selling in 1973 to Myron Simerly.

He was a member of the Maryville First United Methodist Church, a past president and life member of Rotary International of Maryville and a life member of the Maryville BPOE Lodge.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Duke, Bethany, and two grandchildren, Barbara and Brad Bowman, Bethany. An older brother, Lee Meek, died in Novenber, 1965 at Chillicothe.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Price Funeral Home, with Dr. Paul E. White officiating. Burial will be in Miriam Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made to a memorial fund established at the Maryville First United Methodist Church. - Adv.
