Abel was a World War II veteran and served in the European Theater of Operations Battle of the Buldge.
Abel was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 2951 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Abel retired from the State of New Mexico with over 30 years of service.
Abel was preceded in death by his parents, Crecencio and Vicentatita Medina, daughter, Margaret in 1961 and brother, Luís.
Abel is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucy, his children, Al Medina (Terry), Rose Márquez, Kathi Medina and Paul Medina (Janel), 12 grandchildren, 9 nine great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Ferron and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
