Funeral services were held Monday, November 6, for Gladys Marie Meade Cantrell, 74, who died Saturday, November 4, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Cantrell was born February 18, 1921, in Johnson County, the daughter of the late George Meade and Martha Williams. She was a member of the Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Burl White Cantrell, Sr., on January 25, 1990. Surviving are three sons, Burl "Skip" Cantrell of Oil Springs, Wade Cantrell of Staffordsville and Jackie Cantrell of Fairborn, OH; one daughter, Sue Cantrell Browning of Staffordsville; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Blanton of Paintsville and Alka Frazier and Ruby Blanton, both of Staffordsville, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Officiating at services at Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church were Dick VanHoose, Mike Blanton, and Willard "Red" VanHoose. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
