GRACE C. McNERNEY

Mrs. Grace C. McNerney, 96, 1234 South Garrison Avenue, died at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday at her residence after a long illness.
Born August 29, 1891 south of Jasper, she was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Calhoon. she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Rhoda Fairchild Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As a young woman, she worked at the Central National Bank here, and was a silent partner for many years with the family-owned Calhoon Lumber Company.

She was married to M. Paul McNerney November 6, 1917, in Carthage. He died February 13, 1950.

Surviving are:
one son Martin McNerney, 1917 Forest St.

three daughters;
Mrs. ["Midge"] Charles H. Tompkins 2203 Grand Ave
Mrs. Don Webb, Columbia, Missouri and
Mr. [Harriett] L. J. Cunningham of Gaithersburg, Maryland

15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

Preceeding her in death were a daughter;
Elizabeth Turrentine, who died in January 1967

two sons;
Thomas W. McNerney, who died in 1941 and
Lt. George A.McNerney, was killed in 1952 in Korea;

a brother;
George M. Calhoon, who died July 27, 1971 and

a sister;
Miss Myrtle E. Calhoon, died October 27, 1971

Services were held at Ulmer Funeral Home
