Claire M. Sargent, 84, passed away on January 13th, 2013. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on September 26th, 1928 to her parents Mary (Robinson) and Thomas McNeill. Claire was raised and educated in Somerville. She has lived most of her adult life in Medford, Massachusetts. For many years, Claire worked as a sales clerk at Ames (formerly Zayre’s) Department Store in Medford. She was a resident of Weldon Manor in Medford where she was active in the Tenant’s Association and made many lasting friendships. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Tanner and her husband Mark of Rindge, New Hampshire; by her grandchildren, Erin and Kaelee Tanner of Rindge and John Tanner of Stoddard, New Hampshire; and by her great grandchildren, Jamie Carney and Kathryn Tanner. She is also survived by her niece’s; Gail Sullivan of Melrose, Massachusetts and Joan Sullivan of Malden, Massachusetts as well as many other nieces and nephews. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday January 18th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday January 17th from 3-7 PM. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Rindge, New Hampshire in the Spring.
