Verna B. Gage, age 93, of Gage Branch Rd Bakersville, NC, died Sunday, October 24, 2004, at Brian Center Healthcare in Spruce Pine, NC. She was the daughter of the late George and Laura Buchanan McNeil, and a lifelong resident of Mitchell County, NC. She was retired from Belks Store located in Spruce Pine, NC, and was also a Teacher for the Mitchell County School System. She was a lifelong member of Vians Valley Presbyterian Church. She was very active in and loved her church, where she taught the Adult Women Sunday School Class, and was also The Youth Director. She was President of The Presbyterian Women Organization.
She was preceded in death by; husband, Carroll D. Gage, grandson, Michael Wayne Gage, three sisters, and two brothers.
Survivors include; daughter, Norma Smith, and husband Jim, of Spruce Pine, NC, sons, J. C. Gage, and wife Kate, of Johnson City, TN, and Gary Gage, and wife Rosalie, of Senoia, Georgia, sister, Florence Green, of Bakersville, NC, sister in law, Caddie Gage, of Erwin, TN, five grandchildren, William C. Smith, Gordon R. Smith, John A. Gage, Neil Gage, Tonia Mitchell, seven great grandchildren.
Interment will be at Bakersville Memorial Cemetery.
