Elson Douglas "Dub" McNeese, a lifelong resident of Littlefield, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at the age of 80 years. He was born in Littlefield on May 13, 1927, to Benjaman Franklin McNeese and Ethel Belle Kemp McNeese. He married Joelene Yvonne Thomson in 1947. She preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 1995. In 2001, he then wed Beverly Stewart in Littlefield. He served as the Lamb County Sheriff for 24 years, but served the community in the Law Enforcement Profession for 42 years. Dub retired from the Lamb County Sheriff's office in 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Littlefield.

Dub is survived by his wife, Beverly McNeese of Littlefield; two sons, Douglas McNeese and wife Cindy and Scott McNeese and wife Tarey, all of Littlefield; a daughter, Pam Clark and husband Lonnie of Littlefield; two step-daughters, Dianna Harvill and husband Jim of South Padre Island and Cheryl Stasiak and husband Pete of Safford, Ariz.; a brother, Roy McNeese of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Micah Shaw, Drew and Aaron Clark, and Mitch, Mitzi and Maverick McNeese; seven step-grandchildren; eight and half great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Dub was preceded in death by his wife, Joelene; a son, Joe Don McNeese in 1949; his parents; four sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral services to celebrate Dub's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Littlefield, with Joe Stewart and Wes Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to [email protected].
