Bernice Bakerink was born on a farm in Cedar County, Nebraska, April 23, 1907.

She was graduated from the Wayne High School, Wayne, Neb., received the bachelor's degrere (sic) from Wayne State College and the master's degree from Greeley. She taught schools in Nebraska, South Dakota and Colorado.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Wayne, and a member of the Maroposa Chapter, No. 63, Order of the Eastern Star, LaVeta, Colo.

In 1934, she was married to Bruce Prator and lived in Florence, Colo. He preceded her in death in 1947. She was married to Clifford Bakerink in 1963 and lived in Brighton, Colo. He died in 1973.

In 1978 she moved from Brighton to an apartment in Hastings where she lived for five years. Sept. 24, 1984, she moved to the Good Samaritan Home, Nelson. She entered Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital Oct. 10 and died Oct. 23.

Survivors include a brother, John L. McMurphy, Pittsfield, Mass.; sister, Mrs. Albert Klawitter, Nelson; two nieces; and many other relatives.

The funeral was Friday, Oct. 26, at 9 a.m., from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Nelson. The Rev. Paul Samuelson officiated. Burial was Saturday at 10 a.m., in the Union Highland Cemetery, Florence, Colo.
