Sonja A. Briggs, 74, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday evening, May 16, 2013 following a brief period of declining health.
Born in New Philadelphia on March 20, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Donald McMillen and Marjorie (Robinson) Migoni.
After graduating from the former St. Mary's High School in Dennison, Sonja joined the professional workforce where she spent the majority of her career as a supervisor at the New Philadelphia Girls Group Home. Sonja was a familiar face at Walmart where she served as a product demonstrator for more than 25 years also.
Sonja attended Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia and will be remembered for her love of playing Pogo on the computer while eating sugar-free popsicles. She also enjoyed tending to her houseplants and loving her dogs, especially her standard poodle, Colby. Most importantly she was a fabulous mother and best friend to her daughter, Brenda, and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Brenda Miller and her son, Thomas Miller, both of New Philadelphia; her grandsons, Colton, Zach, Cass, and Gage Miller; and her brothers, Donald McMillen and Cecil Migoni.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl J. Miller; her second husband, George Briggs; and her brother, Joseph Migoni.
Sacred Heart Church on Monday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
