Dorothea E. Gibb, 95, formerly of Stronghurst, Ill., died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at the skilled care unit of Balfour Retirement Center in Louisville, Colo.
Born June 14, 1904, in Springfield, Ill., she was the daughter of John and Eva Ketcham McMillan. On May 29, 1932, she married Ivan S. Gibb in Stronghurst. He died June 5, 1985.
Mrs. Gibb was a homemaker. She was raised and educated in the rural Stronghurst area, where she attended local schools and the University of Illinois in Champaign.
She and her husband lived in Pennsylvania and Amherst, Ohio, moving to Sun City, Ariz., in 1973. She was a member of Willowbrook Methodist Church in Sun City.
Survivors include one sister, Eloise Mullinax of Bushnell, Ill.; six nieces, including Carolyn Bouquet of Burlington and Sue Pieper of Monmouth, Ill.; and two nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
The body of Mrs. Gibb has been cremated. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Biggsville Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Schleeter officiating.
A memorial has been established for Habitat for Humanity.
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of arrangements.
