Mrs. Callie Bell McKissack
Services for Mrs. Callie Bell Apple McKissack, mother of local dentist Dr. W. E. McKissack, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Key Stewart Methodist Church in Gallatin. Johnson, Coleman & Kelsey, Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McKissack, a retired schoolteacher, died Tuesday morning at Riverside Hospital in Nashville.
She was a longtime resident of Gallatin and was noted for her musical ability. She was the widow of Dr. W. E. McKissack Sr.
Mrs. McKissack directed a community singing group that earned two first-place trophies four consecutive years at Fisk University during the 1930s. She directed music at Key Stewart Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Dr. W. E. McKissack Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Mrs. A. B. Jordan of Gallatin; four grandsons, William McKissack, Mark McKissack and Carl McKissack, all of Jackson, and Alan Jordan of Gallatin; a granddaughter, Miss Janet Jordan of Gallatin; and a great-granddaughter, Miss Kimberly McKissack of Jackson.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.

She will lie in state at the Key-Stewart Unite Methodist Church, 166 North Blair Ave., Gallatin, Saturday May 29, 11:00 a.m. til 1:00 p.m., where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. J.
