Brother of U.S. President William McKinley.

ABNER McKINLEY'S DEATH,
Came without Warning, Although He had Long Been Ill.
Somerset, Pa., June 13, 1904-The death of ABNER McKINLEY, brother of the late president, came without warning to his family. His colored servant, who slept in his room, was up with him at 2 o'clock, and it is not known at what time MR. McKINLEY got up again, as he did not waken his servant. MRS. McKINLEY walked into this room at 8 o'clock and found him sitting in a chair cold and apparently dead. A physician was summoned, who said death had probably occurred two or three hours before. He had been a sufferer from Bright's disease for the past two years. Two months ago he became so ill he was compelled to give up his office in New York. He went to his summer home, thinking the change of air might prove beneficial.
ABNER McKINLEY went to New York from Canton, O., to practice law, and he was successful both at the bar and in business. He easily eclipsed his more distinguished brother as a money maker.
ABNER was the only member of the McKINLEY family to witness the triumph of MAJOR McKINLEY in the convention hall. After PRESIDENT McKINLEY'S election it was rumored that ABNER might be appointed to some office, but he declared that he wanted no office.
The body of ABNER McKINLEY will be brought to Canton for burial beside his mother and father in West Lawn Cemetery.
ABNER McKINLEY was the survivor of the four sons in the McKINLEY Family. Each of whom met a sudden or violent death. JAMES McKINLEY died suddenly of apoplexy on a train near Newcastle, Pa., DAVID McKINLEY was stricken in the same manner at San Francisco. WILLIAM McKINLEY was assassinated at Buffalo.
