Alfred Wayne was the son of Robert McKim and Elizabeth "Betsy" Tate/Tait. He married Margaret P. Taylor on March 17, 1842 in Spencer Co., IN. She was the daughter of Seaton Taylor and Sarah Bowen/Bourne. To this union ten children were born; Nellie (d. early childhood in South MO. while traveling by covered wagon), Robert (d. early childhood), John David, Sarah (d. early childhood), Taylor, Elizabeth Jane, Daniel Bryant, Hiram (d. early childhood), Alfred Hiram, and Margaret.
Alfred was probably the 8th child of Robert and Elizabeth McKim. He played the fiddle, it was an innate talent passed down through the generations of the McKim family. He was a farmer all his life and a layman minister. His Christian faith was strong and unwavering till the end.
Alfred is buried with his wife, several children, and various other relatives. Alfred's death date on his tombstone is incorrect. It shows he died in 1911, but he died in 1910. He shares a tombstone with his beloved Margaret, whom he was married to for almost 70 years.
