Mary Evelyn McKey Betz, a native of Centreville, MS and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the age of 71. She was a beautician until she became a mother. She loved to sew, craft, and work in her gardens. Mary's real joy was her eight grandsons. She was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Howard Ray Betz; three daughters, Missy Martin and husband Alan, Traci Gardner and husband Jeff, and Amy Abadie and husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Martin, Garrett and Greer Gardner, Noah, Andrew, Asa, and Luke Abadie; two sisters, Linda Rogillio and Maxine Compton; and three brothers, Rawlins Elmo McKey, Robert McKey, and Rafford McKey. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Willie Mae McKey; and brother, Eugene McKey. Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 9:00 am until service time. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am conducted by Pastor Lewis Richerson. Pallbearers will be Rawlie McKey, Robert McKey, Randy Rogillio, Jerry Betz, Jeff Betz, and Steve Myers. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons and nephew, Shane McKey.
