Iris Jacqueline "Jackie" McKeown Amick was the daughter of Theodore Perry McKeown, III. and Frances Irene Bell. She had four sisters, Alma Louise McKeown Cauthen, Willie Eleanor McKeown Caskey, Marian Browne McKeown Bailey, and Barbara Joyce McKeown Ormand. She had three brothers, Ralph Perry McKeown, Francis "Jimbo" Willard McKeown and William Crawford McKeown. She was married to Curtis Claude Amick and had three children, John Curtis Amick, Cynthia Claudette Amick and Carolyn Sylvia Amick.

She became a Registered Nurse after completing nurses training at the Baptist Hospital in Columbia, S.C. She loved gospel and country music. She sang, played the guitar and the piano. She died while living in Naples, Italy.
