She was born November 23, 1935 in Pensacola, FL, daughter of Aulice and Annie Ruth (Holliday) McKenzie. A 1953 graduate of Tate High School, Cantonment, FL, she attended Nursing School in New Orleans. She married career Marine Corps Officer, Howard L. Snider, on May 28, 1954 in Long Beach, Mississippi. He survives.
A homemaker, she helped run the family business, Shakey's Pizza, in Muncie. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Muncie Community. She enjoyed arts, crafts and gardening, and for the past 11 years traveled extensively with her husband in their motor home.
Surviving are her husband, Howard; and five sons, Leslie, Lee (wife-Catherine), Lawrence (wife-Ronda), Lyndon (wife-Dawn), Lloyd (wife-Trish); and three daughters, Lisa (husband-Jim) New, Lizbeth (husband-Darren) Green, Laraine (husband-Donny Tucco); two brothers, Larry (wife-Shirley) McKenzie, Dick (wife-Carolyn) McKenzie, both of Pensacola; one sister, Sue (husband-Al) Lapierre, Boston, MA; 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William, George, and Brinkley McKenzie.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Ed Kacena at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Muncie. Burial will be made in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Elm Ridge Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, where a scripture service will be held at 4 p.m.
Family requests memorials be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Pittman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton.
