Roberta E. (Tootie) Falls,83, died Friday in Westminster Village after a long illness.
Mrs. Falls was born in Frankton, graduated from Frankton schools and Ball State teachers College, where she received her master's degree. She retired in 1979 after 30 years of teaching. She taught at Lowell from 1937-41, Royerton from 1942-43, Burris from 1943-47 where she coached volleyball and basketball, and Storer Junior High School from 1959-79. She served on the Muncie Parks and recreation Board from 1948-51, 1960-63, 1980-83, and 1984-91. She was a member of the Muncie Community School Board from 1953-57. She was a Jack Moore Award Committee member. She was elected to the Delaware County Hall of Fame in 1983 and served on the Delaware County Hall of Fame Board.
She was a member of College Avenue United Methodist Church and Delta Theta TAu sorority. She served with the Hospice Board, Delaware County Cancer Society Board, RSVP board of directors, where she volunteered over 6100 hours, and the YWCA Board.
In May of 1994, she received the James Lightbody Award for being the first to promote girls athletics in Delaware County.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Falls (wife-Jan) and Dick Falls (wife-Linda); and two brothers.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Calling will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and before services Tuesday at Parson Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Ball Memorial Hospice or the Delaware County Athletic Hall of Fame.
